The Faculty of Life and Medical Sciences at BMS Campus, in collaboration with St. John Ambulance, successfully conducted a specialised First Aid Training Programme for its academic staff on 6 and 13, June 2026. Hosted at the BMS Colombo Graduate School, the initiative reflects the campus’s ongoing commitment to health, safety, and proactive crisis management.
The primary purpose of the programme was to equip educators with the vital skills required for the effective management, safe handling, and appropriate transportation of casualties during medical emergencies. Moving beyond theoretical knowledge, the sessions seamlessly blended expert demonstrations with intensive, hands-on practical activities. Under the guidance of an experienced St. John Ambulance trainer, participants actively practised critical first aid procedures and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
By the conclusion of the two-day programme, academic staff members gained the practical knowledge and confidence necessary to respond decisively during unforeseen medical situations. This successful collaboration not only enhances individual emergency readiness but also strengthens the overall safety ecosystem within the BMS Campus community.
