BMS Campus Strengthens First Aid Readiness Through Practical Training

The Faculty of Life and Medical Sciences at BMS Campus, in collaboration with St John Ambulance, successfully conducted the second phase of the First Aid Training Programme on 12 and 13 August 2026 at the BMS Campus.

The two-day programme was conducted for the academic staff from the Faculty of Management and Technology, members of the Student Council, Science Society and English Literary Club of BMS Campus. The training was designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in responding effectively to medical emergencies, safely handling casualties, and carrying out appropriate casualty transportation procedures.

A key focus of the programme was to provide participants with practical, hands-on experience rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction. Under the expert guidance of Ms Wathmi Ranathunga, an experienced St John Ambulance trainer, participants engaged in demonstrations and practical sessions covering essential first aid procedures and cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.

By the end of the training, participants had the opportunity to upgrade theoretical knowledge into practical skills that can be applied in real-life emergencies.
