“Speak to Lead” Public Speaking Workshop

The Department of English and Academic Literacy at BMS Colombo Graduate School hosted “Speak to Lead,” a dynamic workshop focused on mastering the art of public speaking. The event, held on 18 September 18, 2025, at Harvard Hall, was designed to equip young learners with the confidence and skills needed for effective communication and leadership.

The programme’s core objective was to help students overcome their fear of public speaking (glossophobia) and develop a strong stage presence. The session covered a range of key topics, including body language, vocal tone, and emotional connection, along with an exploration of various public speaking genres and the fundamentals of storytelling.

A practical session allowed students to immediately apply what they learned, enabling them to enhance their public speaking abilities through hands-on practice. The workshop was attended by 120 students from the HND business batch, who actively participated in the day’s activities.

We extend our sincere thanks to all the participants and organiszers for making “Speak to Lead 2025” a resounding success.
